Where additional clinical observation is required, face-to-face appointments can be arranged at our clinics in Northampton or London. Where clinically required, face-to-face appointments may be offered at our Northampton clinic — available for complex cases requiring in-person assessment — or our London clinic, for individuals and families who would benefit from face-to-face observation.
Face-to-face appointments may be recommended when:
- Additional behavioural observation is required
- The presentation is particularly complex
- There is diagnostic uncertainty
- Communication differences make in-person observation beneficial

Common questions, answered plainly
Are online autism assessments as accurate as face-to-face assessments?
Yes. Many aspects of an autism assessment, including developmental history interviews, clinical interviews, behavioural observations and multidisciplinary reviews, can be completed effectively through secure video consultations. Where additional observation is needed, a face-to-face appointment may be offered.
Is an online autism diagnosis recognised?
Yes. Following assessment, you will receive a comprehensive diagnostic report that can be shared with GPs, NHS services, schools, colleges, universities, employers, Occupational Health services and local authorities.
Who is suitable for an online assessment?
Most children, young people and adults can be assessed online. It is often particularly suitable if you prefer familiar surroundings, have sensory sensitivities, experience social anxiety, live far from specialist clinics, or need flexible appointments.
Will I need to attend a clinic?
Most clients complete the entire assessment process online. In some circumstances, our clinical team may recommend a face-to-face appointment at our Northampton or London clinic.
What technology do I need?
Internet access, a laptop, tablet or desktop computer, a webcam, a microphone, and a quiet, private space.
Can a parent, partner or family member attend?
Yes. Parents and carers play an important role in children's assessments. For adult assessments, someone who knows you well may also contribute information with your consent.
What if I have ADHD, anxiety or another condition?
Many autistic individuals experience co-occurring conditions. Our clinicians will consider your overall presentation and how different conditions may affect your experiences.
Is my information secure?
Yes. All information is handled in accordance with UK GDPR and data protection requirements. Appointments are conducted using secure platforms, and professional confidentiality standards are maintained at all times.
What happens if autism is not identified?
Not all assessments result in an autism diagnosis. Regardless of the outcome, the process can provide valuable insight into your strengths, challenges and support needs — and where appropriate, we provide recommendations for further assessment or support.
